SRC Squash News - What's Going On This Summer and Next Season

The Squash Committee has been busy planning summer events and next season's calendar, which should keep you motivated to keep playing over the summer.

Next Season
Our tentative schedule of events for next season is:

10/2 - 10/3     Fall Classic - Our kick off event for current and former
                                         members of SRC

11/27            Turkey Burner - Run off those calories on the Friday
                                             after Thanksgiving

1/2                Walker Cup - Its US vs. The World in a contest for
                                          world domination

2/26 - 2/28     SRC Open - Our US Squash sanctioned event where
                                       outside players come to challenge us on
                                       our turf

3/20 - 3/22     Club Championship - May be run as self-scheduled
                                                      through quarter finals with
                                                      semis and finals on this
                                                      weekend

We will also be organizing teams for CT League play on Thursday nights starting in the Fall.

Summer '09
This summer we have our Golf 'n Squash event on 7/27 - four man teams will compete in the morning in squash and then head to Longshore to play golf (refreshment cart will be following us on the links to keep us in top playing condition).  If you are interested in participating in this, email srcsquash@gmail.com right away. 

Also for summer we are working on -
1. Interclub matches - travel to other clubs to play a match against their members
2. "Above the Cutline" Tournament and BBQ
3. Movie Nights/Demo Nights
4. Bronze Invitational Junior Tournament and Exhibition Match - Labor Day Weekend

We also are hosting junior camps and potentially an adult camp. The junior camps will be offered the weeks of Monday, June 15th, Monday, July 13th and Monday, August 10th from 9am to 12 noon. There will be 4 kids per court allowing us to provide lots of individual attention.  The cost for the week per child is $385.00. The weeks between the set dates will have camps if the demand is there. There will need a minimum of 4 kids to run a camp. Please sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment for the dates you would like by emailing srcsquash@gmail.com.

Ongoing
Every month we have a "Women's Night" - play and then go out with the gals - June 3rd is next one - contact jgabler4@gmail.com to get on the email list.

We are working on a blog to better communicate squash news and events - coming soon.

The lunch ladder is thinking of going to online scoring on the US Squash system, just as the evening ladder has done.  Look for a computer terminal in the club soon to log your scores for all ladders.
